We are having a nice Sabbath day today. It didn't start out that way; we were both tired and slept in a bit and got there late, just as the Sacrament hymn was ending.
I almost ended up teaching another primary class but the teacher came at the last minute. Alex does not like going into nursery, but he cheers up after a couple of minutes. It is really cute how he will cling to me and then wave frantically at everyone else, as if he is saying, nice to see you, now I am taking off.
Also, Luke will always say I don't like this church as we are pulling up. He started doing that when the ward split and hasn't let up yet.
I read all the cabin histories during Sunday School (I stayed out in the hall because I was late). It was very pleasant to read and see all the different view points.
I had a wonderful lesson in Priesthood about Temple blessings. I love going to the temple and serving there. This all rolled up with several experiences I have had this week. Examine your lives and see if you can serve in the Temple more, it is worth it!
I was a bit late for Sacrament Service this morning too (Jake is at the hospital, as usual). Even though we started heading out the door at 8:45, when I looked at the clock as I was backing the car out it said 8:56! Wyatt was a little bouncy and had a hard time holding still through the six (six!) confirmations we had today.
ReplyDeleteDuring one of the speakers, I found myself wallowing in self-pity about something and totally distracted. Then I re-examined my thoughts. Why was I focusing on something that I had previously resolved? I realized that perhaps I was letting myself be pulled away from something I needed to hear. Satan can be so subtle! By now Wyatt had occupied himself with a car and I was able to really listen to the speaker. He was talking about the priesthood and how it blesses our lives. There wasn't any one thing that jumped out at me, but I felt quietly strengthened and comforted. On top of that, my class was well behaved and attentive. Now that is a good Sunday!
I had a pretty good Sunday too. I taught our first Family Relations class and it went OK, I hope to improve as the time goes on. It is different teaching adults but they were relaxed and willing to contribute comments and read out loud. In the evening Brenda & Dan and kids came over for a while. Brenda, Julie, Katie and I watched 17 Again while Dan, Brendan and Wes played Beatles Rock Band (Is it Rock Band or another name?) Today I will go and pick up my things from the fair, I'm really looking forward to getting them back as I need them to wear. I may enter a much more detailed item next year, like a coat or suit. That should be fun. I agree with Quint, we should all be using the temple more. I have offered babysitting but have had no takers yet. It is definitely the place to go to when you need a boost. I know it is difficult for all of you since you have children and odd work hours, just try to go once in a while anyway. Aunt Barbara is working on finding some family names we can take to the temple. That is something we haven't done before so I wish her well in her search. We decided she could work on the researching part of the genealogy and I will help on the inside. I hope you all have a pleasant day today - stay strong, stay happy and stay safe.
