We had a big storm blow through St. Louis last night. We are all safe and didn't suffer any damage, but I thought you'd be interested in some pictures:
We had some large hail stones. It was not a pleasant sound to hear those bouncing off of the cars!
The largest were about the size of an egg.
I gathered up several for reference:
Our neighbor has two large blossoming pear trees, one of which is very close to our house. When we first moved in, she had four. They get so big and top-heavy that they don't fare well in high winds (as we witnessed with the first two trees). So you can imagine that we've been holding our breath, hoping that the one just outside our bedroom window doesn't fall onto our house during some big storm. Yesterday it lost a huge branch. Thankfully it fell out into the street and didn't cause any damage.
The limb is almost as big as a full-grown tree!
Why do we choose to live in places with such wild weather?
Oh my goodness! I've heard about Hailstones that large but never seen any. I'm glad that you did not have damage from the storm.
