Wyatt has been to six speech therapy sessions. I think he is making some progress, but it is SLOW! He doesn't say much at home around us, so you can imagine that things don't improve when he's at the hospital with a stranger in the room. That said, today was his best day yet. He repeatedly said "ball" to play with a ball and "more" to pop more bubbles. And he cooperated by touching buttons on a screen to show what he wanted to do next. Wyatt has become familiar with the therapist's office (they have a huge fish tank that he likes to look at), but he still acts clingy during the sessions. He has to sit on my lap and grab onto my arms. We are hoping to get him accepted into a magnet school this fall where they would be able to provide free speech therapy that would be integrated into his school day. I'm surprised how sad I feel about having him start school at such a young age. But I know this is the best way to get him talking. I'll let you know how things go. I'm excited to see you all next month!

I know it is difficult to go through something like this, we want to see dramatic changes and see little things instead. I think he will come along well though, just try to remember where he was when he started so you can see anything that changes. Sometimes looking back is the best way to see where you've been. I'm looking forward to seeing you soon, I hope Wyatt will do well here and still likes us. Dad is planning on taking some time off while you are here including the week you will be gone. Christa is an excellent resource for ways to encourage speech since she has been going through this with the twins. I can see a big change in Tommy and Danny is interested in the exercises but not talking a lot yet. Christa knows of several websites that may be helpful to you. If she doesn't contact you soon, contact her.
